Coaching Experience/Credentials – Coach Joe has over 25 years of organized coaching experience. He is currently in his 11th season at Cathedral Catholic High School coaching at the freshman level. During the past 11 seasons, the Dons have had exceptional success achieving a 148W - 36L - 2T record. Several players from these teams have gone on to play at the varsity level at Cathedral Catholic winning several CIF championships and rising as high as the #1 team in the nation. Many of these players have also gone on to play at the collegiate level and some even reaching the professional level. Coach Joe serves as the hitting coach at Cathedral and has been fortunate enough to of been mentored by "Mr. Padre" Tony Gwynn during coaches clinics at SDSU.
Goal in Coaching – My goal in coaching is to help prepare our young men for life through lessons experienced through the game of baseball. To help our players attain success on and off the field through hard work and determination while realizing that through hard work is how they attained their success.
Best Part of Coaching – Being able to affect young mens’ lives in a positive way and see them attain their goals on and off the field. Being a mentor and helping in times of struggle and triumph. Also the many great relationships forged through the years with the many players and their families.
During Coach Pat’s 8 years serving as the assistant coach at CCHS the Dons have compiled an impressive 132-34 won loss record.
Coach Pat attended University of San Diego High School and was a 3 year letterman in baseball. Played for Coach Serrano, who had the highest win total in San Diego; CIF baseball history at the time
A San Diego native who has lived entire life in different parts of San Diego. Coach Pat grew up playing baseball and attended San Diego School of Baseball as a youngster and was mentored by pitching coach Tom House and hitting/infield coach Alan Trammel.
When not coaching baseball Coach Pat is a tri-athlete and outdoorsman. He has completed an Ironman Triathlon and 6 marathons. Coach Pat has hiked to the summit of Mt Whitney, Half Dome, Mauna Kea, and Mt Fuji. Pat is also a Race Guard and is certified by National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) for coaching and also certified in CPR and first aid.
Coach Pat is also a mortgage broker and has been in the mortgage industry for 15 years.
Coach JoJo's goal is to prepare your player for high school and collegiate level of competition. Coach JoJo graduated from Cathedral Catholic High School in 2012. While playing baseball for the Dons, the team won The Lions Tournament, Western League Championship, and the CIF Championship finishing with a record of 30-4. His leadership skills come from his passion for the game and sharp mental toolbox developed through his time in competitive baseball. Prior to high school, Coach JoJo played high-level baseball beginning at age 11, won multiple tournament championships and received top-notch coaching from some of the best coaches in San Diego during his time on Tecolote Indians, San Diego Stars, and the San Diego Diamonds.
Coach JoJo has coached the past five years at the 10U -18u Travel Ball level and is also the head coach at Point Loma High School (Freshman), Assistant Coach for both JV and Varsity. His coaching success come from many influences throughout his baseball career: Justin James (Pitching Coach at UCSD), Ryan Williams, Aaron Wilson (University of San Diego), Gary Remiker (Cathedral Catholic High School), Anthony Stabile (Cathedral Catholic High School) and Joe Storniolo (Cathedral Catholic High School).
Outside of baseball, Coach JoJo is pursuing his degree at San Diego Mesa College and volunteers for Ysabel’s Pink Angels, a Breast Cancer Foundation associated with Athletes for Education program.
Alan "Lupe" Ford
13U & 14U Coach
Coach Lupe was born and raised in San Diego. He graduated from Kearny High School in 1987 and continued to play baseball at San Francisco State University. During his first year at San Francisco State University, he was nominated as Freshman Pitcher of the Year and again was nominated as Sophomore Pitcher of the Year.
In 1992 Coach Lupe was drafted in the 10th round of the 1992 Major League Baseball Draft by Toronto Blue Jays organization and went on to play 3 years in their minor league system and 3 1/2 years in the Major Leagues. Coach Lupe was mentored by many respected MLB Coaches such as Roberto Alomar (Cleveland Indians, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays), Jays Gil Rondon (Pitching Coach with Toronto BlueJays), J.J. Cannon (Manager, Milwaukee Brewers), Larry Hisel (Pitching Coach, Toronto Blue Jays), and Darrin Balsley (Pitching Coach, San Diego Padres).
For the past 16 years, Coach Lupe has been involved in coaching baseball for various organizations from Little League to Travel Ball organizations.
HEAD PITCHING Coach
Coach Judd graduated from Helix High School in 1993 and went on the play baseball at Grossmont Junior College. He was drafted out of Grossmont Junior College by the New York Yankees in the 9th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft. Judd made his Major League Baseball debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in September 1997 and went on to play professionally for the New York Yankee, Los Angels Dodgers, Tampa Bay Devil Ray and Texas Rangers organizations.
Coach Judd has been active member of the community coaching youth baseball for over 10 years. As Head Pitching Coach for the the San Diego Ballers, Judd brings with him extensive background playing at all levels and plays a vital role in helping San Diego Baller players reach their maximum potential as pitchers as well as all-around great baseball players.
Coach Kap is a Point Loma native where he played infield Point Loma High School. Then I went on and played infield at St. Olaf College in Minnesota Coach Kap graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Studies.
Coach Kap is back to his roots coaching for the Point Loma High School Freshman team alongside Coach JoJo. When he's not on the field, Coach Kap works at the San Diego Sports Medicine's physical therapy clinic and plans to pursue a Doctorate's in Physical Therapy.
Coach Kap's background in sports medicine and his success as an infielder brings a much needed dimension to the San Diego Ballers to provide a complete developmental experience for players who what to take it to the next level. His passion for the game and drive to succeed off the field sets the right tone for our young men.
Coach Wear was a high-impact player on the Point Loma High School Varsity team 3 years (2008-2011). The highlight of his high school baseball career was playing on the Tampa Bay Rays Scout Team his junior year of high school for a fall season.
Wear continued his baseball career at University of California Santa Barbara from 2011 to 2015 as pitcher and catcher. In his final season at UCSB, Wear was named Big West Honorable-Mention All Conference as catcher for the Gauchos.
Wear was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2015 MLB Draft in the 27th Round and had the opportunity to play in Rookie Ball, Short Season Low A Ball, Low A ball and Spring Training with the Rockies organization.
Coach Wear's attitude, work ethic, and approach to the game of baseball makes him a natural leader on and off the field.
